This course is designed for graduate students, and deals with several general cell biology techniques. It includes 2 hour lecture on the theories and 2 hour laboratory work. The contents cover primary tissue culture and cell line culture, staining for organelles, generation of polyclonal and monoclonal antibodies, localization of protein and mRNA in cells (immunocytochemistry and in situ hybridization), transfer of small and large molecules such as antibodies and siRNA by microinjection, scrape loading, and transfection, purification of DNA and RNA, real-time polymerase chain reaction, microarray, calcium imaging, proteomics, and electrophoretic mobility shift assay.
